There are moments—at the crossroads of snow and cold—when the howling wind ceases to be an obstacle and becomes a shared language. A language Montura has been listening to and evolving through its apparel for years. Now, with the Vertigo Collection, that language takes on new shape and substance
“Fewer pieces, maximum function.” 18 items, 6 kilos. A kit designed not to fill your backpack—but to empty it of anything unnecessary. What remains is the essential: functional, concrete, stripped of excess. Vertigo is, in many ways, a contemporary manifesto of Montura’s design philosophy—a scientific and stylistic system, carefully engineered to adapt to the body and to the extreme conditions faced by athletes and explorers at high, or even ultra-high, altitudes.
Rather than a collection of standalone garments, Vertigo presents itself as a refined grammar of style and performance: pieces that work together, built with thermal fabrics, lightweight shells, durable materials, and targeted protection. This is gear that responds to movement—allowing you to focus on what truly matters when everything pulls upward: the experience.
The most poetic and cutting-edge element of Vertigo lies in how it was developed. Montura turned the concept of “field testing” into the creation of an actual, extraordinary test field. In the heart of the Dolomites, thanks to the visionary terraXcube simulation facility by Eurac Research, the Italian brand took on the challenge of controlling the uncontrollable: the raw, unfiltered sensations only felt beyond physical limits.
From −40 °C to +60 °C. Equipped with biometric sensors, renowned mountaineers Nives Meroi, Romano Benet, and Hervé Barmasse—all Montura ambassadors—took part in a unique research process. Inside the terraXcube, they faced the kinds of extreme conditions typically found above 8,000 meters: snow, rain, winds reaching 100 km/h. Throughout the entire experiment, they wore the Vertigo collection, captured in the moment by the visionary lenses of Achille Mauri and Mattia Balsamini. Their distinctive, experimental approaches to visual storytelling brought to life what is often only describable through human sensation.
The result is a powerful blend of visionary thinking and a deep sense of responsibility—a new approach to technical outerwear that Montura defines as “a new way”: A path for reaching any peak with the right mindset—and the right gear to match. Built not only to perform, but to endure. Ready for anything.
